A personal note...

Dear Friend,
My name is Gail Ward, owner of GLO on the GO.  Thank you for visiting our site.  I hope you are able to find all the information you are looking for about sunless tanning.  I know with many sunless tanning options out there, it may be difficult to decide who to trust with your spray tan.  I would like to take just a moment of your time to explain why I started this business and why you should trust your tan with us.

Over 7 years ago I began airbrush tanning.  With skin cancer running rampant in my family, I knew that UV tanning was not an option for me.  My sisters and I were always on the search for the perfect sunless tan.  You name the lotion, we tried it!

Shortly after my sister, Esther, moved to Florida, I went to visit her.  She told me about this new way of tanning, having someone spray on the solution via airbrush.  Of course, the thought of having someone see me in my underwear did not sound appealing.  But she said she would pay, so I gave it a shot.  WOW! I loved it!  I had done the spray machine booths back home.  But this was totally different!  I knew I had to bring this new idea back with me.

Once home, I threw myself into doing research on airbrush tanning.  I convinced my other sister, Carla, to get on board with me and before I knew it, we invested in a sunless company, got trained and opened our small airbrush tanning salon in Kendallville, IN. It took work to introduce this new tanning method to the community.  Afterall, Dancing with Stars wasn't on television yet!  But we built a good clientele.  And we were very dedicated to constantly improving our technique and products.  Esther as well started working as an airbrush technician in Florida.  So it was really a great asset to be able to share ideas and tips between the three of us.

Unfortunately, due to family responsibilites we had to close the doors.  But I missed it!  I missed being able to help people that had survived melanoma cancer gain their confidence back.  I missed seeing someone like me get a tan that never thought they would be able to have one.  I missed giving brides their wedding day glow.

So in early 2009 I started up GLO on the GO.  But this time it was just me.  And I was able to gain a location in Fort Wayne at Contoure.  I also went a little beyond and started offering mobile tanning.

Over the last 8 years I have personally tried over 30 solutions.  And through that research I have customized my own solution you won't find anywhere else.  It is going to give you the best, most natural looking tan from the moment you leave my door.  I feel that I provide a service beyond any other, from beginning to end.  My main concern is that you are comfortable throughout the entire process and that you leave with the best tan you've ever had.  This is not just an add on to my business...this is my business!
And I love it!  And my hope is that you do too!

Sincerely,
Gail

As noted above, I have a very personal reason I'm doing what I do.  Not only did I lose an uncle to melanoma skin cancer, but about 8 years ago I started seeing the effects of skin cancer taking its toll on my dad.  Thankfully it has always been basal cell, but skin cancer nonetheless.  Recently my father has had a chemical peel prescribed by his dermatologist.  It was a cream applied over a 2 week period.  The pictures below are at the end of his treatment period.  All the many dark spots are the skin cancer coming to the surface.  It is very hard to look at these pictures without crying.  I'm so glad he keeps up with his doctor's visits and gets any questionable spots taken care of.  It scares me to think of what we do to ourselves, not even knowing what the end result can bring.  Of course when my dad was growing up on the farm they weren't concerned about wearing sunscreen and protecting their skin.  But now we know.  Now we can do what it takes to protect ourselves.
So please, wear your sunscreen when outside and avoid the tanning beds.
Your life may depend on it.
Sincerely,
Gail
